Remembering Thanksgiving Day 2014

“I thank my God every time I remember you, 4constantly praying with joy in every one of my prayers for all of you…” Philippians 1:3-4

“In the end, maybe we must all give up trying to pay back the people in this world who sustain our lives. In the end, maybe it’s wiser to surrender before the miraculous scope of human generosity and to just keep saying thank you, forever and sincerely, for as long as we have voices.” -Elizabeth Gilbert

It was the first time our family gathered together for a Thanksgiving meal in a long long time. The last time we had Thanksgiving together was 2003. It had been too long. Our first time guests included my beau Marion, the almost 8 month old niece, Althea, and even though brother in law Craig has been part of the family for 7 years, it was his first Thanksgiving with us all together. So of course, we had to capture it with a picture.

Gathering together as adults leading our own lives all in different places was a gift. We are such a chill, relaxed bunch, so it really felt like vacation. I had the opportunity to cook the Thanksgiving meal along with my brother Andrew. My mom cooked a huge Korean meal for us on Friday night. I’m pretty sure hers was better. But it was so great to have us all together and to eat together, laugh together, play card games together, and just be together.

I was in charge of the turkey this year. It was gross.

I’m so thankful for my family… and I’m so thankful for Thanksgiving 2014.
