“Rest and laughter are the most spiritual and subversive acts of all. Laugh, rest, slow down.”
Anne Lamott, Plan B: Further Thoughts on Faith
“Our mouth was filled with laughter, and our tongue with shouts of joy; then it was said among the nations, ‘The LORD has done great things for them.’ The LORD has done great things for us, and we rejoiced.” (Psalm 126:2-3)
I just spent a week in Maui, and already people have been asking me, “What did you do??”
Well friends, I slept, I ate, I laughed, and I sat by the ocean.
I watched the sunset every evening.
I didn’t have a schedule or plans… and I didn’t need to organize anything.
I went with two women who are also introverts–so we did our own thing when needed, and sat silently together when needed, and most of all, laughed a lot.
In an overscheduled life and world, it was nice to really vacate for 5 days to refresh myself for the journey ahead. I am thankful for the privilege to do so. And I’m thankful to return to a life and job and reality that is GOOD.
