I thought I was doing this for myself.
Then I thought, if I’m going to run a freaking half-marathon, I better do it for a good cause.
But I was scared. Running 13.1 miles was intimidating, overwhelming, and seemed like too much for me.
But then I heard news about the former PCUSA moderator, Cindy Bolbach, a woman I greatly respect and admire who within days was admitted into hospice and went to God after a battle with cancer. I did not know her well, but we did have a few great conversations. She had a great sense of humor, great faith, radiated grace, and she persevered.
That’s when I knew I needed to run. I could not be afraid when there are so many who live courageously–and I need to do something… for all those we love, those we have lost to cancer, and in celebration for those who overcome.
But this one, I’m running with and for Cindy Bolbach.
I’d love your support.

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight and the sin that clings so closely, and let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us.” (Hebrew 12:1)
